Pilgrimage  Poomkavanam

Poomkavanam

The pilgrims attain a deep sense of contentment after reaching the Sannidana. Even though the journey is strenuous, the pilgrims enjoy every bit of it as it’s through the Poonkavanam that they travel to arrive at the Sannidanam.

After taking a holy dip in the River Pampa the pilgrims break a coconut in an expression of paying tribute and proceed further after offering prayers at the temples of Sreerama, Hanuman and Sakthi and reach the camp of the King of Pandalam. After accepting the prasadam from there they begin to walk down the steep Neelimala and arrive at Appachimedu. Reaching here the first timers throw rice balls to the valley with a view to satisfy the evil spirits.
